Ciscomani, Schweikert Must Vote to Lower Health Care Costs

PHOENIX — Despite failing to extend health care tax credits before premiums spiked in January, Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert have another chance to vote to lower health care costs for Arizonans.

The U.S. House is voting this Thursday to bring back health care tax credits that Congressional Republicans refused to extend at the end of 2025. Ciscomani has said he wants to lower health care costs, but he and Schweikert voted for a Republican health care bill last month that failed to extend the health care tax credits and will leave more Americans without coverage.

According to ABC News

“Insurance subsidies that have helped millions of Americans pay for health coverage are set to expire as 2025 ends on Wednesday.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies, or premium tax credits, help lower or eliminate the out-of-pocket cost of monthly premiums for those who purchase coverage through the health insurance marketplace.

A KFF analysis last month found that people who buy insurance from the marketplace, and receive financial assistance, would see their premiums rise by about 114% on average, from $888 in 2025 to $1,904 in 2026.”

“Congressman Ciscomani keeps telling us he wants to lower our health care costs, but then votes the other way,” said Jenn, a Tucson worker who saw her monthly premiums triple from last year to this year. “Well now it 's time for him to actually listen to us: vote to bring back health care tax credits and lower health care costs on Thursday.”
