Schweikert & Ciscomani’s Vote for Partisan Funding Bill Fails To Reverse Health Care Cuts

PHOENIX — Honest Arizona Executive Director Andrea Moreno released the following statement after Congressmen David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani voted for a partisan funding bill that continues on a path to undermine Arizonans’ access to health care and increases the risk of a government shutdown in the coming days:

“Since even before voting for the Republican Tax Law, Congressmen Ciscomani and Schweikert complained about its impact on the debt and on access to health care coverage for Arizona families. Today, they were given an opportunity to address some of those concerns and defuse the ticking bomb that Republicans created with their Medicaid and health care tax credit cuts: stripping coverage from millions of Americans, raising health care costs, and hurting hospitals and medical providers alike. Instead, Schweikert and Ciscomani doubled down on their betrayal of Arizonans and voted for their highly partisan funding bill that increases the odds of a government shutdown, all to secure their massive tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans and corporations. Every chance that Schweikert and Ciscomani are given to do right by Arizonans, they fail.”
