Ciscomani & Schweikert Cave on Key Tariff Vote and Stick It to Arizonans Already Paying Higher Prices
PHOENIX — After months of Americans paying the price of Trump's tariffs, and making clear that they hate it, Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert voted again to allow the President to keep waging economic warfare on Arizona families.
Since President Trump took office in January, both Schweikert and Ciscomani have criticized parts of his tariff policy, rightly saying it would hurt Arizona families at the checkout line and hurt small businesses whose economic growth and ability to create local jobs are aided by trade. Despite that, they voted multiple times to allow these devastating tariffs to continue, including a vote last night to keep in place Trump’s 50 percent tariff on imports from Brazil that affect the price of coffee, tea, cacao, sugar and other popular grocery items.
“Arizonans are demanding action to rein in tariffs and lower prices, but all Schweikert and Ciscomani offer are press interviews and strongly worded letters,” said Andrea Moreno, executive director of Honest Arizona. “Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani must take some sick joy out of repeatedly voting to make life harder and more expensive for their constituents.”
