REPORT: Ciscomani & Schweikert's Republican Tax Law Will Kick More Than 15 Million Off Health Care

TUCSON — The Republican Tax Law that Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert voted for will kick more than 15 million Americans off of their health care, according to a new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Notably, Congressman Ciscomani signed a strongly worded letter criticizing the draconian health care cuts before voting for them anyway, and at the same time giving massive tax giveaways to billionaires.

According to CNN:

The sweeping tax and spending cuts package that President Donald Trump signed into law on July 4 is expected to leave 10 million more people without health insurance in 2034, according to a Congressional Budget Office estimate released Monday.

Separately, the CBO has projected that an additional 5.1 million more people would be uninsured in 2034 due to the expiration of the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium subsidies that are set to lapse at year’s end, as well as a rule proposed by the Centers on Medicare and Medicaid Services governing Obamacare enrollment and eligibility. (The rule has since been changed and finalized, but CBO has yet to update that part of its estimate.)

The report also estimates that the law increases the federal deficit by $3.4 trillion.

“Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani said they would look out for their constituents, but their Republican Tax Law is a handout to billionaires that takes health care away from Arizonans who need it most,” said Andrea Moreno, executive director for Honest Arizona. “When Arizonans lose their health care, pay higher monthly premiums, and lose their local hospitals and clinics, Schweikert and Ciscomani will be to blame. ”
