Arizonans Urge Ciscomani, Schweikert To Reject Plan to Pay for Iran War with Health Care Cuts

TUCSON — Arizonans urge Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert to not cut health care further to pay for an unpopular war with Iran that is sending gas prices to record highs here at home.

Multiple outlets reported this week that congressional Republicans are looking to cut health care to pay for $200 billion or more for the ongoing, unpopular Iran War. Republican Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert already voted to cut health care for Arizonans to give tax breaks to billionaires in the Republican Tax Law last year. Just weeks ago, they voted in favor of the Iran War that is causing significant constraints to the global oil supply, forcing the price that Arizonans see at the pump to skyrocket.

"Arizona veterans didn’t put our lives on the line so that congressmen like Juan Ciscomani could threaten the livelihoods of us and our families when we came home,” said Sylvia G, a U.S Air Force veteran who lives in Tucson. “Cutting my family’s health care to pay for a war is stupid and wrong, and Congressman Ciscomani should reject it and look for a way to end this war.”
“From paying for billionaires’ tax cuts to funding a costly war, Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert seem to have one answer: cut Arizonans’ health care ,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “It's time for Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani to put Arizonans and their wallets first for once, and vote against the war that is raising prices on all of us.”
