ICYMI: Because of Iran War, Arizona Gas Prices Among Highest Nationally
TUCSON — Because of the ongoing Iran War, Arizona drivers are paying some of the highest gas prices in the nation.
Republican Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert voted in favor of the Iran War that is causing significant constraints to the global oil supply, forcing the price that Arizonans see at the pump to skyrocket.
According KJZZ:
Arizona has some of the highest gas prices in the nation. And in many parts of Maricopa County, the price is already over $5 a gallon.
Patrick De Haan is the head of petroleum analysis for gasbuddly.com. He says on Wednesday, the average gas price in Phoenix was $4.93 a gallon.
“Arizona, the No. 1 increase of any state in the nation, up $1.35 at the statewide level from a month ago,” he said.
De Haan says Arizona’s unique blend of summer gasoline, the closure of a refinery in California, demand in the Phoenix-area and the war with Iran are to blame.
"Gas prices just keep climbing, and that means less money for groceries, for my kids, for everything," said Gina S., a mother in Tucson. "Arizona families like mine are being punished for a war we didn't ask for, and it's time for leaders like Ciscomani to stand up and say no to these cost-raising policies."
“Arizonans are paying more at the pump, because Republicans like Ciscomani and Schweikert are backing a war that no one wants,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “It's time for Schweikert and Ciscomani to put Arizonans and their wallets first for once, and vote against the war that is raising prices on all of us.”
