Arizona Brewers Threatened By Republican Tariffs on Aluminum

PHOENIX — The annual Copper State Beer Festival will be held this weekend, while many Arizona brewers are being threatened by Congressional Republicans’ tariffs on aluminum.

According to Bloomberg commodities columnist Javier Blas, aluminum costs have reached a record high because of Republican tariffs. Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani have voted multiple times in support of across-the-board tariffs that are raising prices for virtually everyone.

"The tariffs are set to raise the pricing on aluminum in the cans that have become a colorful mainstay of the craft beer industry, as well as the steel used in kegs," said Jessie Jean, owner of Hop Shop in Tucson. " It's a real bummer, because diversity in all of its forms, even within the beer and wine we sell, makes us a better business. These tariffs could really damage a small, local, family owned business like Tucson Hop Shop."

“Arizonans are demanding lower prices, but instead Schweikert and Ciscomani are giving us cost-raising tariffs!” said Honest Arizona Executive Director Andrea Moreno. “Ciscomani and Schweikert need to stop hurting their constituents’ wallets and start working to eliminate these tariffs and lower costs for Arizonans,”
