NEW: Arizona SNAP Enrollment Falls By Nearly Half Since Passage of the Republican Tax Law Over 10,600 Arizonans Lost SNAP Access in Last Month

TUCSON —  The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) reported that nearly half of Arizona’s SNAP recipients have lost access to food assistance since the Republican Tax Law was passed in 2025.

More than 10,600 Arizonans lost coverage from July to August, including over 6,000 children.

The Republican Tax Law cut SNAP access for millions of Americans to pay for massive tax giveaways for billionaires and corporations. Congressman Juan Ciscomani voted for the Republican Tax Law.

DES reports that 492,065 Arizonans received SNAP in August 2026, compared with approximately 909,000 in July 2025 before the Republican SNAP cuts went into effect. Arizona is implementing the cuts faster than most states, but similar results are expected to affect nearly every state, resulting in millions of people losing critical food access.

“Arizona’s SNAP crisis gets worse every month as more and more families lose access to much-needed food assistance” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “While wealthy Americans and corporations got massive tax breaks from the Republican Tax Law, Arizonans are paying the price and going hungry.”
