Juan Ciscomani Affirms Support for Drastic Medicaid Cuts in GOP Tax Scam
TUCSON — Congressman Juan Ciscomani yesterday once again affirmed his strong support for drastic Medicaid cuts in the GOP Tax Scam that he voted for last month, as the U.S. Senate plans a vote on their own version of the bill this week.
According to the Center for American Progress, Ciscomani’s support for the “House Republicans’ proposed Medicaid cuts would threaten rural hospitals everywhere—in particular, the nearly 200 hospitals already at immediate risk of closure in Medicaid expansion states [like Arizona].”
A Joint Economic Committee report found that Ciscomani's vote to cut Medicaid and ACA coverage would take away health care from nearly 350,000 Arizonans. In addition, that same GOP Tax Scam would cut job-creating renewable energy investments and take food from Arizona families to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires and corporations.
“Congressman Ciscomani knows that his vote for the GOP Tax Scam takes away health care from Arizonans, yet he continues to write letters filled with false hope, instead of actually fighting for his constituents,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “Congressman Ciscomani needs to stop putting billionaires over working Arizonans and vote to kill the GOP Tax Scam when it comes back to the House for a vote.”
