Ciscomani & Schweikert Should Vote 'No' on Proposed Amendment that Threatens Future of Social Security, Health Care

TUCSON — Honest Arizona Executive Director Andrea Moreno released the following statement ahead of a vote this week on a proposed constitutional amendment that threatens the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid:

“Congressman Ciscomani said he wants to protect Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare, but this vote would threaten the future of all three. Arizona patients are already paying more for health care because of the Congressman’s votes to cut health care access while still giving massive tax giveaways to billionaires. Congressman Ciscomani needs to do the right thing and vote against this proposal.”

Congressman Schweikert has long supported efforts to cut Social Security and Medicare, including proposing that Americans should work longer, all while voting to give massive tax breaks for the wealthy, threatening the long term stability of Social Security and Medicare. Congressman Schweikert needs to vote against the upcoming amendment because it would further undermine programs that millions of Arizonans rely on.”
