Ciscomani & Schweikert Choose Shutdown Over Arizonans’ Health Care
PHOENIX — Congressman Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert have chosen to shut down the federal government rather than restore cuts they made to health care and food assistance this summer while throwing massive tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans.
“Congressman Ciscomani chose to shut down the government instead of fixing the deep cuts to health care my family counts on," said Fabiola Bedoya, a Tucson mom. “He says he’s here to look out for families like mine, but his votes tell a different story, from raising costs with tariffs to cutting Medicaid and food assistance. Families like mine are just trying to get ahead, and his choices are making that harder. It’s time for him to keep his word to Arizonans and reopen the government by restoring the health care and food assistance we need.”
“Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani have decided that tax breaks for billionaires are more important than health care, food assistance, and keeping the government open” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “Even though they've admitted that the Republican Tax Law will devastate health care access for millions of Americans and burden future generations with trillions of dollars in new debt, they refuse to reverse those cuts, and instead have chosen to shut down the government. Congressmen, the choice is simple: side with Arizonans over billionaires and restore the cuts to reopen the government.”
