Arizona SNAP Enrollment Plummets More Than 53% in Year Since Ciscomani's Republican Tax Law Enacted

TUCSON —  In the year since Congressman Juan Ciscomani voted for the Republican Tax Law, more than 400,000 Arizonans have lost access to SNAP nutrition according to data from the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES).

The Republican Tax Law cut SNAP access for millions of Americans to pay for massive tax giveaways for billionaires and corporations.

DES reports that 502,673 Arizonans received SNAP in July 2026, compared with approximately 909,000 one year earlier. The decline has been dramatically steeper in Arizona than nationwide. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities estimates SNAP participation nationally has fallen about 12% since the Republican reconciliation law was enacted, while Arizona participation remains roughly 53.6% below its July 2025 level.

“In just one year, over 400,000 Arizonans have fallen off the SNAP enrollment list, just as Congressman Ciscomani's law intended,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “Arizonans need to tell Congressman Ciscomani to stop abandoning Arizona families to benefit the wealthiest of the wealthy.”
