100 Days In: Arizonans Deserve Better Than Trump’s Price Hikes and Medicaid Cuts to Pay for Billionaire and Corporate Tax Handouts

PHOENIX — As Arizonans assess the 100th day of President Trump's term in office, they are worried that congressional leaders like Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert are supporting tariffs that raise their costs and cuts to Medicaid just to pay for more tax breaks for big corporations and the ultra-wealthy.
Ciscomani and Schweikert voted for a budget resolution that requires massive cuts to Medicaid and would increase the deficit while also giving massive tax giveaways to wealthy Americans and corporations. They voted that same day to support President Trump’s tariffs that  raise prices for working Arizona families.

Cuts to Medicaid, known as AHCCCS in Arizona, threaten and could even eliminate coverage for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans, as well as undermine rural hospitals and elder care.

“President Trump’s first 100 days and his agenda to cut critical services for Arizonans have been a complete disaster,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. "Slashing Medicaid and imposing tariffs raises costs for millions of Arizonans and rips hard-earned benefits away from working families—all to give more tax handouts to corporations and billionaires. Congressmen Schweikert and Cisocomani need to start working on behalf of Arizonans and not billionaires."
