Schweikert, Ciscomani Voted to Raise Arizonans' Energy Costs

PHOENIX — At a time when Arizonans are concerned about the high cost of living, Congressmen David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani voted for a funding bill that would raise Arizonans' energy costs.

The bill they voted for specifically rescinds $5.5 billion in funding from the Inflation Reduction Act that was dedicated to rebates for energy efficient appliances and other cost-saving measures. The Congressmen also voted to cut funding to ensure access to clean drinking water, a major priority for Arizonans who have suffered for years under extreme desert drought.

“Instead of lowering Arizonans' energy bills and providing better access to clean water, Congressman Schweikert and Ciscomani both voted to raise Arizonans' energy costs,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “Both Schweikert and Ciscomani have spoken about high costs. One would think they would vote on behalf of their constituents, but instead they chose to make their lives more expensive. They need to start representing Arizona and the hardworking families in their district.’’
