Honest Arizona Hosts Affordability Listening Session

TUCSON — Honest Arizona hosted an Affordability Listening Session with Arizona State Representative Kevin Volk (LD17) on Tuesday to hear how Arizonans are dealing with higher costs.

The Republican Tax Law cut health care and food assistance for millions, and Arizona is the epicenter of the nationwide SNAP crisis. Nearly half a million Arizonans have already lost access to SNAP, including over 200,000 children. In addition, tariffs and the war with Iran are causing prices to go up across the board.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani voted for the Republican Tax Law, tariffs, and in support of the Iran war

“Arizonans are struggling,” Volk said. “Our state is disproportionately affected by federal cuts, so we simply cannot absorb them with state resources. The party-line Tax Law from Republicans in Congress has already cut health care and food security for tens of thousands of people in our state.  Meanwhile, the Republican state legislative leadership that's been in charge for decades is largely ignoring costs of living in favor of political posturing.  We can do so much better.”

“Arizonans are struggling as a direct result of votes that Congressman Ciscomani took,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “We heard how Arizonans are having to make serious choices about how to stretch their dollars, and how they see no end in sight for rising costs.”
