Ciscomani and Schweikert Must Reject Trump's Harmful Budget Proposal

TUCSON — Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert must reject President Trump's proposed budget plan that would worsen the impact of the Republican Tax Law they voted for and raise costs for working families to pay for an unpopular war with Iran.

The new budget proposal includes cuts to support lower energy costs, WIC nutrition assistance and public health initiatives. Many of the programs and services on the chopping block were already drastically cut by the Republican Tax Law, all to pay for tax breaks for billionaires and wealthy corporations.

According to the Center for American Progress:

“Last July, President Trump signed into law his ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ which instituted the largest cuts to both Medicaid and SNAP in history, while at the same time cutting taxes disproportionately for the richest Americans. Taken as a whole, that law was the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in U.S. history.

... the Trump administration’s budget would rob Americans of crucial services, expanding the Defense Department’s resources for unnecessary military projects and escalating the unjustified war in Iran.”

“Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani already voted to hurt Arizona families with the Republican Tax Law, and if they were serious about wanting to help Arizonans they would reject President Trump's budget proposal,” said Andrea Moreno, executive director of Honest Arizona. "At a time when Arizonans are demanding lower costs, Schweikert and Ciscoman's record is consistently raising prices.”
