At End of Shutdown, Arizonans Still Face Higher Premiums, Looming Medicaid and SNAP Cuts

Ciscomani & Schweikert Voted for Republican Tax Law

TUCSON – Honest Arizona Executive Director Andrea Moreno released the following statement after the House voted to reopen the government after the longest shutdown of the federal government in U.S. history:

"Congressmen Ciscomani and Schweikert just put Arizonans through the longest shutdown in history, threatening access to food assistance and making empty promises to lower health care costs, and at the end of it, Arizonans still face higher premiums, many will lose access to Medicaid and even more will lose their food assistance. That’s because the Republican Tax Law that Schweikert and Ciscomani voted for fails to make the health care tax credits permanent, threatens rural hospitals and kicks millions off of their health care. In fact, it breaks the very promise that Ciscomani and Schweikert made to look out for Arizonans. Ciscomani and Schweikert need to stop raising Arizonans' costs and act now to reverse the harm they’ve caused for Arizonans ."
